On the last September 21st, PAPEL TANGARÁ started up its new Tissue Machine, the PM2 EVO 16 Eco from HERGEN. The start-up was very successful, and the machine is already producing high quality paper jumbo rolls to be converted into toilet paper, napkins, and paper towels.

The PM2 is part of a major investment by PAPEL TANGARÁ and a pioneering project that started in 2019 and that will make it possible to double its production capacity and diversify the range of products offered to the market, providing access to high quality papers of a wide basis weight range for all its customers.

The Paper Machine

The Crescent Former machine supplied by HERGEN, model EVO 16 Eco, the PM2 was designed for a working speed of up to 1,600 m/min and to produce from 60 to 80 tons/day. In addition to having a steel fabricated Smart Yankee Dryer Cylinder, with a diameter of 4,880 mm (16'), which features a much higher heat transfer capacity, that exceeds in up to 35%, when compared to the cast iron Yankee cylinders on the market, resulting in a proportionally higher production capacity.

The PM2 has a monthly production capacity of 2,100 tons of high-quality paper, including double ply tissue.

According to Vilmar Sasse, HERGEN's commercial coordinator, "with the PM2, the cost per ton produced will be reduced, as it focuses on energy savings and high productivity, it will use an innovative technology to recover the high temperature gases from the boiler, which will be redirected to the drying hood, thus increasing the machine's production, that is, the thermal energy that would be wasted in the atmosphere will be reused in the manufacture of paper”. “I believe that this solution could be the future of the paper market, in terms of cost reduction and energy efficiency”, he added.
