On June 1st, DAMAPEL started up its new tissue paper machine, the PM4.
The start-up was very successful, and the machine has been producing high quality paper ever since. The PM4 will produce toilet tissues, towels, napkins and handkerchiefs, with basis weight ranging from 13 to 40 g,m².
The machine, model EVO 16 ECO, was supplied by HERGEN, with a Crescent Former HCF 1225, Suction Press Roll Ø 1,050 mm and a Ribbed Steel Yankee Dryer Ø 4,880 mm (16').
The hydraulic Pope Reel produces jumbo rolls up to Ø 2.500 mm and features a shaft puller, carton core feeder and an automatic reel spool collecting system.
Fabricated in Steel featuring a ribbed internal surface, the Smart Yankee Dryer Cylinders produced by HERGEN allow a higher heat exchange and, consequently, a greater drying efficiency.
Thanks to this, the EVO 16 ECO achieves excellent results, even using only a Canopy Hood (Extraction Hood) instead of a regular Yankee Hood, which means production with low energy consumption.
Taking advantage of this differential of the HERGEN machine, the project was divided into two stages. In this first stage, the machine works with a Canopy Hood, which aims to simply extract the water vapor generated by the paper drying process. The Canopy Hood uses only small fans, with very low energy consumption. This configuration allows extracting the maximum performance from this configuration, which in this case means about 70 t/d.
In the second stage, the project foresees the replacement of the Canopy Hood by a Gas Fired Hood. In this scenario, a production of 108 t/d is expected.
Drying and pressing concepts that deliver excellent cost effectiveness per ton of paper produced.
Flexible designs that allow for gradual upgrades starting from a basic model.
Proven engineering experience, with customized solutions that allow achieving performance very quickly and safely.
